Watercolour Faux Fur Patterns

Image
Had fun with watercolour and an animal theme with this set.  Always popular and great to know that no animal was harmed in the creation of these!  Time to sort out my silk patterns and get them out there to be sold.  I was thinking of different ways makers or customers could use these as they are all approx A1 in size.  It's always exciting to get the package back from Glasgow School of Art (where my work ends up on silk).  So I'll carry on grouping them, taking some photos and then letting them go!  They are also available as accessories such as iPhone covers on zazzle

Scale & Paisley Heart Pattern

Image
Something I always struggle with once I've drawn up my idea, scanned it and started to repeat it, is what scale should it be?  For me, I usually end up printing it out just to confirm that I've got it at the scale I want - it's so easy to get it wrong just using your screen as a measurement.  I'm lucky to have a bigger screen to work on as some of my designs are full scale king size duvet designs.  I think it helped my last client as she was judging pattern size and lettering on her screen until I suggested doing a print out at home on her printer and it worked.  This play with scale is a heart shaped floral pattern I created as part of a paisley set for some new zazzle products.

New Blog Layout

Apologies to Cat for the mad image but it's so dull and dreary in Scotland I just wanted to do something fun and bright to thank Cat at gattoweb for all her help and support with my new blog layout.

REDROADSTUDIO SUMMER TOTE BAGS AT SOCIETY6

Image
We can never have enough tote bags especially as we have to pay for any plastic bags in the shops now and a lot of us are thinking more 'green'.  My tote bags are ideal for summer and can brighten up any day with a unique pattern or illustration.  I've also created a PeoplePerHour 'Hourlie' so you can commission me to create a bespoke, individual design especially for you or perhaps a family member or loved one.

redroadstudio Featured by Pinterest UK

Image
I was delighted to hear the news from Lizzie Sibley, Community Manager for Pinterest in the UK to tell me I'd been chosen as a featured Pinner.  Just wanted to thank her and Pinterest for their unexpected support.  It goes without saying that I wouldn't have 300,000 followers if it weren't for the huge help I'm given by all my followers - thank you soooo much!

TWELVE OF DIAMONDS REDROADSTUDIO ABSTRACT ART PRINT

Image
I think I must be going through a 'needing a lot of colour round me' phase with my latest art print on society6.  Hankering after a Bohemian lifestyle perhaps LOL!  It's believed that diamonds absorb thoughts and feelings with the skills to conduct and strengthen energy.  Sums up what I'm needing...

I was delighted to see that the UK print on demand website ZIPPI had chosen on of my designs on their website main pages!  Always a lovely surprise - I wonder why they don't tell you?  But really pleased none the less.  The Black Scottie Dog Plaid Macbook Pro Skin is on a sale at the moment and only £13.99.

Guinness Storehouse Mood Board

Image
Last mood board from our Guinness Storehouse tour in Dublin.  Busy exhibition with lots to see on each floor and, of course, a welcome pint on the top floor of the building.

Guinness Storehouse Tour, Dublin, Mood Board

I'm not a Guinness drinker but if there is one place you should have one it's got to be the Guinness Storehouse Tour at the Gravity Bar on a clear day so you get the full 360 view of Dublin.

New Work Children's Wear For Summer 2016

Image
Some new ideas for a client on PPH based in Australia.  What fun it was to get back to children's wear especially for summer.  This was an idea I had for a safari tiger range for children up to 24 months.

Dublin Trip

Image
Glad we managed some good weather while we were over in Dublin and managed to go to some different venues too.   So easy just to go back to old regulars.

Dublin Trip

Image
The great thing about working for yourself is that you get the opportunity to take a break at different times, often unplanned.  Dublin is a great place to get round and we took a trip to Dublinia.  The exhibition itself is tired and needs some better technology and settings but the essence of how Dublin came to be was interesting.  These photos are from the inside of the covered bridge over the road (top pic) and takes you from Dublinia to Christ Church and it's there where I got the lovely stain glass inspirational images.

Fashion Illustration redroadstudio

Image
Had a little space between commissions and I fancied working with coloured pencils on an A3 fashion drawing as a wee surprise for someone.  It was well received and, of course, a complete surprise for them.  I love doing that every now and then - I don't think I'm the only one that loves getting a surprise package through the post!
