New Summer Ikat Pattern Art

New Summer Ikat
We've had two lovely days here and about time!  I even got to sit out with my breakfast on our little decking area.  It always makes me want to use lovely summer colours and this is my modern take on a traditional ikat pattern mixing it with contemporary sharp lines.  The art print is available on society6 and I'm working on accessories or, at least, I will be when I get all my hundreds of poppy heads out the garden.  Never had so many in my life!

Perhaps if I put lots of hot sultry images on my blog and everywhere else we might get a few days of lovely weather.  I know it's Scotland and we had our summer last Tuesday but I do hope it gets better for us going away for a wee birthday break.....

Inspiration and Instagram II

Colour and Objects to Inspire Using Instagram
It doesn't really matter if the photograph you take on the spur of the moment is not in focus as they can still used used for reference and inspiration.  I'm thinking of just using washes of violet and deep deep bluish watercolours using the hyacinths as my challenge but I also like the idea of creating a quirky kitsch conversation pattern using my mum's fridge door ..........  who knows.  Just take the picture and think about it later .....

Winter Colours in Australia

Finally got over my jet lag and am enjoying the wonderful winter colours here in Burleigh Waters, Queensland.  Just a few snaps from my walk to the local shops yesterday.
