I love the colours of Autumn but I think I'm a summer girl at heart.  Probably the long light days and getting up very early to sunlight.  The studio is so much better with natural light to work in.  When I painted my Greek Summer pattern I obviously had that season in my mind even using blues as the main colour and it's available in many forms on Redbubble.  What's you favourite season? The Modern Africa set of patterns was inspired by merging the traditional influences of pattern in Africa with modern design elements including images I worked on from the infamous Red Road flats in Glasgow.

Colours had to be strong, vibrant with turquoise, orange, red and blue mixed with black on a white background.  Powerful clean colours using abstract shapes to create very geometric shapes.  There's a full range of products in my Society6 shop including art prints, cushions and iPhone covers.

The craft industry is enjoying a boom thanks to the popularity of e-commerce websites such as Society6, UK based Folksy and USA based Etsy, who enjoy millions of users and revenue each year. A Scotland-based designer, Jay Anderson, announces the opening of her new online shop, Textile Central.

Textile Central is a shop consisting of 100% handmade home accessories, mugs, stationery, phone/laptop skins, and other goods. Her new Textile Central portfolio lives by the motto “Made by hand, not machine,” for this new range of home accessories she creates all of her designs from “scratch,” designing them on paper with pen, pencils and paint, until the final finish which then requires technology.

A graduate of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee, Jay has designed printed textiles for many years, and takes pride in creating a variety of patterns and designs that are whimsical, eye-catching, and eclectic. “I'm delighted to share my work with the world. I believe my products can deliver a modern style to any house, and make it feel like home,” she explains.
