Pittenweem Arts Festival : Venue 15

So delighted my talented daughter managed to work full-time and create a body of work for her exhibition at Pittenweem Arts Festival.  So proud!  It's now time for her to take it easy for a wee while before she starts on some commissions.

OLD SCHOOL TATTOOS ART COMMISSION

Happy New Year everyone, I have been neglecting my blog for quite some time so am about to rectify that by starting with my very last commission of 2015.  And suddenly I had another skull artwork to create just after completing my very first one - what a coincidence!  Her's the artwork before it went into it's frame - I enjoyed working with this as I've been thinking about working three dimensionally for a wee while now.  The client wanted the skull raised off the background.  And now on to 2016 wishing you all health, wealth and happiness and lots of creativity!!

New Summer Ikat Pattern Art

New Summer Ikat
We've had two lovely days here and about time!  I even got to sit out with my breakfast on our little decking area.  It always makes me want to use lovely summer colours and this is my modern take on a traditional ikat pattern mixing it with contemporary sharp lines.  The art print is available on society6 and I'm working on accessories or, at least, I will be when I get all my hundreds of poppy heads out the garden.  Never had so many in my life!

Top Pinterest Pins On redroadstudio

TOP PINTEREST PINS ON REDROADSTUDIO
Lovely mix of popular pins on my Pinterest recently.  You just never know what will be pinned or liked when you choose so I enjoy every now and then seeing what has gone viral.  The Harvest Wallpaper was the most popular with over 75 pins and 7, 500 impressions (not sure what that is) but I can see why it was chosen.

TWELVE OF DIAMONDS REDROADSTUDIO ABSTRACT ART PRINT

TWELVE OF DIAMONDS ART PRINT
I think I must be going through a 'needing a lot of colour round me' phase with my latest art print on society6.  Hankering after a Bohemian lifestyle perhaps LOL!  It's believed that diamonds absorb thoughts and feelings with the skills to conduct and strengthen energy.  Sums up what I'm needing...

redroadstudio's new website

redroadstudio's website
At last!  It's taken me long enough to get this organised.  I just wanted a simple, easy to use, fast website - no nonsense and quick to use.  Just want to thank John at 'the allotment' for all his help and support.  Now I just need everyone to send me messages and click on things so I know it's all up and running........ hint!

mood board 'wabi sabi'

WABI SABI by 'redroadstudio'
There is something about worn, deconstructed, aged, textured materials that can be quite beautiful - I've created a couple of moodboards based on this theme.  The Japanese call it 'Wabi Sabi'.

Modern Africa Accessory Patterns on Society6

Society6
The Modern Africa set of patterns was inspired by merging the traditional influences of pattern in Africa with modern design elements including images I worked on from the infamous Red Road flats in Glasgow.

Colours had to be strong, vibrant with turquoise, orange, red and blue mixed with black on a white background.  Powerful clean colours using abstract shapes to create very geometric shapes.  There's a full range of products in my Society6 shop including art prints, cushions and iPhone covers.

If you're quick, Society6 has a sale on - http://society6.com/lookbook/society6-get-sorted-sale

Gemma Anderson

Potraits: Patients and Pyschiatrists'
Potraits: Patients and Pyschiatrists'

Potraits: Patients and Pyschiatrists'
Quote from Gemma's website  "Portraits: Patients and Psychiatrists’ is unique in Art History as the first series of portraits to mix psychiatrists and psychiatric patients indiscriminately in one collection (Jordanova, Schupbach 2010). These portraits could not have been made a hundred years ago at the Bethlem Royal Hospital but since then psychiatric knowledge and practice have advanced........

At the centre of each portrait is a face. Around that point, a world of objects floats, sprouts, jostles, plays hide-and-seek. Mushrooms form an acrobatic tower to peer over one subject’s shoulder; a seahorse nestles inside the belly of a dogfish, like a foetus, a treble clef, the f-hole of a violin - nature’s ampersand. These objects repeat and then transform, cells become scales become butterfly wings become pills; veins become nerves become muscle fibre become wrinkles. Natures patterns find a deep echo in the artist’s imagination"
