So the 'Bones of the Land' masterclass on to developing some sketching and drawing after venturing outside on a cold but dry winter's day for inspiration. Enjoying working with black Chinese ink and brushes, being mindful of my marks. Tried to choose a subject that I wouldn't normally go for.
Travel loving Scot with an eclectic creative professional background. I love being busy in my studio, based in Fife, with commissions and artwork for my clients. I'm also getting to grips with running this redroadstudio blog, Pinterest, Instagram and Facebook page - deep breath!!

'Bones of the Land' Workshop Ladybank
So pleased that I went to the 2 day advanced drawing masterclass workshop with the wonderful artist Kate Downie. 'Bones of the Land' allowed us to develop printmaking, mark-making and drawing approaches in response to the surrounding Scottish countryside in winter. Been a long time since I've developed work in a sketchbook and I attended with a bit of trepidation but I was so pleased I did go! The whole point was to take me out of my comfort zone and for me to work with new materials and techniques. I'll be posting pics over the next few days.

Indian Horse
Well it's decision time - do I add colour? I've also decided to produce about 6 studies of the Indian Horse and develop a range of prints from them so if I should've left it black and white won't be too major a decision as I'll have others to choose from.

My inspiration came from a 'blast from the past' as I had illustrated an Indian Horse before and I thought it would be fun to see if my style has changed. I made into a greetings card and phone cover and it's available in my shop.

Indian Horse
Just a wee update on my Indian Horse drawing - not sure whether I like the colour in it so I might do a few more and decide how to develop them later. I was considering elements for a new surface print theme for the shop.

The fabric horse is made from remnants of mirror fabric and I've found a wee bit about the material before it became the Indian Horse I have now.
