Hot Summer Mood Board

Hot Summer Fashion in Orange and Purple on ello
Perhaps if I put lots of hot sultry images on my blog and everywhere else we might get a few days of lovely weather.  I know it's Scotland and we had our summer last Tuesday but I do hope it gets better for us going away for a wee birthday break.....

Floral Lace Mood Board

Floral Lace Lingerie Moodboard
One of the first things I complete when I start working on a fashion or textile project.  Mood boards or trend boards can be really helpful to set the scene, focus your mind and give the client a visual idea of where you are thinking of going with your designs.  I'm also given mood boards to work from and can be a blessing when a client from PeoplePerHour, for example, struggles to describe what they are looking for.

New Work Children's Wear For Summer 2016

Some new ideas for a client on PPH based in Australia.  What fun it was to get back to children's wear especially for summer.  This was an idea I had for a safari tiger range for children up to 24 months.

Had a little space between commissions and I fancied working with coloured pencils on an A3 fashion drawing as a wee surprise for someone.  It was well received and, of course, a complete surprise for them.  I love doing that every now and then - I don't think I'm the only one that loves getting a surprise package through the post!

There is something about worn, deconstructed, aged, textured materials that can be quite beautiful - I've created a couple of moodboards based on this theme.  The Japanese call it 'Wabi Sabi'.

One of the loveliest ways to start a new project is creating a mood board.  You can switch off and go through your old sketchbooks, magazines and photographs then arrange them till you are happy with them and get started on those all important ideas.
